Peermade Hill Station
Peermad, Perumade, Peerumade is a famous hill station of Kerala which is located amidst of Western Ghats at an elevation of 915 m above the sea level. It is 85 km from Kottayam and 35 km from Thekkady along the Kottayam-Kumily Road which is a very famous stretch in Kerala. This tiny beautiful town has some great opportunities for Eco- tourism and is a part of most amazing travel belt of Kerala that includes Thekkady, Vagamon and Munnar. The annual paragliding event conducted at Vagamon which is just 20 km from Peermade is a major attraction among the visitors. This pleasant hill station was once a summer retreat for the Maharaja of Travancore. The hill station is also famous for its sprawling tea, coffee, cardamom, rubber and eucalyptus plantations interspersed with waterfalls and open grasslands.

Periyar Wildlfe Sanctuary:- One of the largest wildlife reserves in India is just 43 km away from Peermade. People visit this sanctuary from far off places to see the herds of wild elephants frolicking in the lakes is a must see sight.
Pattumala Church:- The famous church of Pattumala is located on the road from Peermade to Kumily. It is just 6 km from Peermade. The church is on a small hill surrounded by beautiful tea plantations. The beautiful church Velankanni Matha situated near to it is a famous pilgrimage center is a must visit destination.
Peermade Sahyadri Ayurvedic Centre:-It is a world famous ayurvedic center which offer curative and rejuvenating treatment packages to the visitors. The drug museum is a must visit place with the collection of over 200 varieties or rare and endangered herbs.
Thrissanku Hills:- Situated at a distance of 4 km from Peermad Thrissanku Hill is a great place to enjoy the long walks and enjoy the beautiful sunset and sunrise.
Waterfalls:-There are many streams and waterfalls in Peermade. Meloram, Nallathanni, Panchalimedu and Valanjamkanam are the scenically beautiful places where the visitors can visit and enjoy picnics.
By Air:-Cochin and Madurai International Airports are the two major airports to reach Peermade. Both of them are 150 km from it.
By Rail:-The nearest rail head is at Kottayam.
By Road:- Peerumedu is 85 km east to Kottayam on the way to Thekkady. There are frequent bus services from nearby cities of Kumily and Kottayam. There are bus services from Munnar and Eranakulam too to Peermade.
