Kappad Beach

Kappad, or Kappakadavu is a small beach situated at a distance of 16 km from Kozhikode /Calicut in Kerala. The beach is famous for its pleasant climate studded with rocks and caressed friendly waves. The beach also has a historical importance as the Portuguese explorer Vasco De Gama landed here on May 20, 1498 that has marked the beginning of new era and new relationship between the Indian and the Portuguese which lasted for about 4 to 5 centuries. The other attraction of Kappad beach there is a Devi temple on the rock believed to be 800 years old.

The beach is a good place to enjoy quite evening in peace and tranquility. Here the visitors can enjoy clear sky, rushing waves and pleasant atmosphere that offer the visitors a good opportunity to explore the inner world. Visitors here can enjoy boating as the backwaters of Kozikode are unspoiled and unexplored.

By Air:-The nearest airport is Karipur International Airport at Kozhikode which is 44 km from Kappad Beach.

By Rail:-The nearest rail head to Kappad beach is Koilandy which is 8 km from it and Kozhikode railway station which is 18 km from it. The railways stations are well connected to Major parts in and around the state.

By Road:- Both KSRTC and private buses connect Kozhikode to various destinations with motorable roads.
