
Trissur, also known as Trichur is renowned as the cultural capital of Kerala. The district has a rich history, cultural heritage and archeological wealth. Sights & Attractions of Trissur
Vadakkumnathan Temple:-Vadakkumnathan Temple is one of the oldest temple of Trissur district dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is a specimen of Kerala style architecture and has many pieces decorative murals and carvings on the wall depicting the stories from epics and is one of the major tourist attractions of Trichur. The temple is a venue of Pooram festival and the firework during this festival is a spectacular sight. People from the other religions are not allowed in this temple.
Kerala Kalamandalam: Founded in 1930, Kerala Kalamandalam is a center for reviving, preserving and developing various traditional art forms of Kerala especially the Kathakali. Founded by the revered poet Vallathol the place was founded in 1927 band is among the major attractions of Thrissur.
Thriprayar Temple:-Located in south of Trichur, Thriprayar temple is one of the important temples of the town dedicated to Lord Ram. The temple is famous for its wood carvings, sculptures and mural paintings which is a visual retreat for the devotees.
Vilangan Hills:-A hillock set amidst the picturesque locale, Vilangan hills is a visual retreat for the visitors. Situated on the outskirts of the main city of Trichur it is about 5 km from the city center. The elevation provides a beautiful city of the Thrissur. Near the top of the hill, there is an open theatre to enjoy the cultural programs of Kerala which contributed greatly to make it one of the most favored travel attractions in Thrissur.
Guruvayoor:-Situated at a distance of 29 km from Thrissur, Guruvayoor is one of the most sacred pilgrimage centers of Kerala. The presiding deity of the region is Lord Krishna and according to the legend Guru, the preceptor of Gods and Vayu, the God of wind, created the temple.
Thrissur Zoo:- Located adjacent to Thrissur Art Museum the Zoo is a home to several endangered species of reptiles besides exotic flora and fauna. The timing of the zoo is from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm except on Mondays.
